Royston Town will finally meet Rushall Olympic - after being paired together in the FA Trophy second round.

The two sides had been pulled out against each other in this year's FA Cup fourth round qualify, but a replay defeat for the Crows against Peterborough Sports.

The Walsall-based side won that match to set up a home tie in the FA Cup first round proper against Accrington Stanley.

And while they will be looking to cause an upset there, the Crows will be out to shock the National League North side when they meet at Garden Walk on November 16.

And the Crows started wonderfully. An own-goal on eight minutes gave them the lead, a home defender turning in an Archie Locke cross, and three minutes later James Brighton converted a penalty after Damaray Anyadike was brought down by Cambridge keeper Tom Middlehurst.

He nearly made amends by getting a hand to the spot-kick but it bounced off the post and in.

From there though Royston made hard work of it.

Marcel Lewis pulled one back for City 10 minutes from half-time but their hopes took a hit when Alex Warman was booked twice, getting his marching orders with 21 minutes remaining.

The Crows return to Southern League Premier Division action on Saturday when they host Stratford Town.

The ladies had a much more comfortable passage in their cup match, beating Colney Heath 4-0 at home in round two of the Eastern Region Women’s League Cup.

They did have some problems in the first half with the visiting Magpies hitting the woodwork twice but once new signing from Peterborough United, Frankie Pim, opened the scoring in the 31st minute, they didn't look back too much.

Pim's goal saw her drive into the box and supply a calm finish and she also got into the act for Royston’s second, playing an incredible ball to Charlotte South who in turn passed to Emma Slater to knock into an empty net.

A third goal early in the second half killed the game off, Slater crossing this time for Lucy Ford to score and the fourth came when from Riana Badal allowed Slater to go in one on one.

They have to wait to find out theri next opponents in the league cup but they have another big cup game first, hosting Newport Pagnell Town on Sunday in the first round of the Women's FA Cup.

Kick-off there is at 2pm.
