Glorious sunshine hit Royston to provide fantastic racing conditions for the fourth round of the BMX East Racing Summer Series.
Just over 230 riders from all over the region descended on the home track of Royston Rockets and with the event marking the halfway point of the series, and many riders focused on ensuring qualification for August's British Championships, the racing was hugely competitive and very exciting.
There were 39 from the home club looking to defend their honour at HQ, including Kai Upton, William Mondey, Rory Collier, Corey Stone, Marcel Pytel and Toby Ballard who were making their debuts for the club at the regional level.
And from the squad, 24 made it to A finals with 12 riders going on to achieve podium positions.
Elizabeth Bown secured a first in the female 17+, as did Cara Rushforth in the female cruiser 30+ and Dominic Hines in the male 15.
Freddie Cadman-Carpenter came first in the superclass, also achieving the fastest lap of the day at 32.6 seconds, and he was second in the cruiser 17-29 group.
Further second places were given to Lui-Kye Mapp in the cruiser 15-16, Billy Irwin in the cruiser 30-39, Christina Boukouvalas Loubiere in the female 11-12, Bruce Anthony in male 12 and Annalise Cadman-Carpenter in the male 14.
Joseph Stebbings achieved third place in the cruiser 15-16, as did Eleni Rushforth in the female 13-14 and Ben Millington in the male 13.
The club's own internal races continue every other Tuesday evening at the Burns Road site and new members are always very welcome.
