The son of late Royston archaeologist Sylvia Beamon has followed in his mum's footsteps to publish a book on different approaches to parenting.
Ivor Beamon's book Please Understand Me: Let's Have and Bring Up a Baby explores how men and women tackle parenting differently, and is inspired by his own experiences and family anecdotes.
Earlier this year, Ivor's sister Stacey Lambert finished and published their mum's book about treating asthma.
Ivor explained that, rather than stemming from his mum's writing, his inspiration came from delving into family history.
He said: "It probably started about 30 years ago when I had a bit of time to do family research.
"I was interested in people’s characters and similarities within the family."
Ivor was also inspired by reading the book Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus by John Gray.
"Men always have a different way of doing things," Ivor said. "We are wired differently. I noticed that not just in myself but in other people."
The book imagines a conversation between Ivor's parents over his name. Ivor was supposed to be registered as 'Robert Ivor Beamon' at birth but his dad made a mistake, leading him to have two conflicting birth certificates.
He also discusses his mum's role in establishing the first antenatal class in Royston.
Ivor, who grew up in Royston but now lives near Huntingdon, said: "There are interchanges between parents where there’s a lot of misunderstandings, because of a different make-up in personality and characteristics.
"Men don’t like to talk about their emotions but women do."
Ivor himself is the father of three children, two boys and a girl, now aged 34, 32 and 23.

He started writing the book as a hobby, but after sending it to a few people to read - including his sister Stacey - they encouraged him to get it published.
"In January I sent it to two publishers.
"Austin Macauley said it was very good, well-researched and well-written.
"I am still a bit gobsmacked that anything came out of it and it’s got to this stage."
Ivor's book is available to buy on Amazon.
