Vintage aircraft took to the skies for the Duxford Flying Finale earlier this month, celebrating the highs of the museum's flying events throughout the year.

The Flying Finale took place on Saturday, October 5, and featured a range of historic planes and displays.

These included a display from The Red Arrows - flying alongside a Spitfire Mk IX MH434 - and the flight of a P-51D Mustang 'Marinell' in formation with an RAF Typhoon.

The event celebrates Duxford's leading role in some of the most dramatic days in 20th century history, as the former RAF site served as a base for many Spitfire and Hurricane pilots during the Second World War.

IWM Duxford's flying season is held from May to October. Tickets for next year's events are now on sale from https://www.iwm.org.uk/airshows.

The Summer Air Show is a family-friendly event featuring "fast flying, all action aerobatics", while the Battle of Britain Air Show takes visitors back to the summer of 1940 with Spitfires, Hurricanes and other aircraft from the Second World War and beyond.

At the event, visitors can also enjoy music and dance from the era, a Living History group in vintage dress and family activities.

Next year's Duxford Flying Finale will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, and promises a live flying display, "incredible" photography moments plus entry to the museum, exhibitions and hangars.
