Royston Leisure Centre is closed after a customer suffered a cardiac arrest.
North Herts Council posted on X - formerly known as Twitter - this morning (Friday, October 11) at 9.16am.
They posted: "Please note: @RoystonLeisure Centre is currently closed due to a medical emergency."
A spokesperson for North Herts Council said: "A customer suffered a cardiac arrest in the gym. Staff on site provided first aid until ambulance arrived.
"The customer was breathing on his own, had a pulse and was taken to hospital."
Chris Williams, contract manager for Everyone Active, said: "Unfortunately, a customer suffered a cardiac arrest whilst using the gym facilities at Royston Leisure Centre this morning (Friday, October 11).
"The emergency services were called, and the individual was taken to hospital.
"The centre was closed for a short period of time and reopened at 10.30am.
"We wish the individual a speedy recovery and would like to thank our customers for their cooperation and support in this matter."
