Royston Rotary Club collected £874.12 for Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust to help replace funds previously raised by the town's kite festival.

The collection was held at Tesco in Royston on Saturday, September 28.

Rotary president Derek Pinner, who chose the hospital trust as his charity for the year, said: "It was a great day. You can always count on the people of our town.

"Their hard-earned cash will be supporting an organisation that most of us have used at some time.

"We were particularly delighted to be joined at the collection by Mayor Cllr John Rees.

Royston Kite Festival is usually held on Therfield Heath, but was cancelled after Natural England raised concerns about the heath's status as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
