TWO people sustained "serious injuries" when a car crashed into a tree after careering off the A1M this morning.

The crash happened at 7.40am today (Sunday) near junction 2 at Hatfield. 

It is unclear why the black Vauxhall Corsa, travelling northbound, crashed leaving the driver and passenger injured. They were both rushed to hospital.

Police are appealing for information and any dash-cam footage that might have recorded the crash.

Sergeant Luke Jenkins from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries are continuing at this time to establish the circumstances around this collision. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone who was driving down the A1M around that time this morning who believes they may have seen the car, to please get in touch as soon as possible.

“If you were driving in the area around the same time and have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, please review the footage as a matter of urgency and send through anything you think may assist with our investigation.”
