A care home resident with dementia amazed staff by chanting fluently at a Buddhist temple.
Chandra De Silva, who has lived at Melbourn Springs since 2020, visited the Letchworth Dhamma Nikethanaya Buddhist Temple in a surprise visit organised by the care home.
Despite no longer being fluent in Sinhala (Sri Lanka's official language), she chanted Seth Pirith fluently with the monks.

Ms De Silva, originally from Sri Lanka, also received blessings from the monks and meditated.
Maria Ulian, general manager at Melbourn Springs Care Home, said: "We knew that Chandra had not been to a Buddhist Temple since her arrival at Melbourn Springs.
"It was wonderful to see how happy Chandra was – and the staff loved being a part of this as well."
