Pupils at King James Academy in Royston had an exciting return to school, as they moved into newly refurbished classrooms after more than a term spent in a temporary space.
The Academy has undergone significant upgrades, with pupils and staff expressing their delight at returning to bright and light classrooms.
"It’s fantastic to see the students back in their newly refurbished classrooms," says Deputy Headteacher, Karen Watson. "The rooms are bright and airy."
The school looks forward to showcasing the newly refurbished classrooms on September 26, for the annual Open Evening.
Repairs and improvements have also been made to the top two floors of 'B Block', following storm damage to the building, with further work to other buildings expected to be completed next month.
"The improvements that have been made to our facilities over the past few months will have a positive impact on both pupils and staff, enhancing learning opportunities and facilities for the children," said headteacher Lisa Plowman.
King James Primary has also seen improvements to its learning environment, with the library being relocated to a more central space to ensure better access for all pupils.
Acting Head of Primary, Tom Linnane, believes the enhancements "have created a more vibrant and engaging environment that will support both teaching and learning".
In addition, King James Primary has welcomed Sarah Vince as the new Deputy Head of School.
"I am excited to join the team," said Ms Vince.
"The recent updates to the school are a testament to our commitment to providing the best possible learning experience for our children."
In addition, the academy looks forward to sharing the results of last terms OFSTED inspection soon.
