The landlord of the Fox and Duck pub in Therfield has thanked firefighters for coming to the rescue after a 'mini tornado' tore through the village.
Unexpected high winds hit the otherwise quiet village on the afternoon of Saturday, August 3.
Several umbrellas were lifted from the pub's outdoor seating area, soaring high into the air and causing a "brief but dramatic" scene.
Landlord Ivan Titmuss said: "All the umbrellas went up, some quite high, and it was quite dangerous, but thankfully everyone was OK.

"One umbrella even landed on our next-door neighbour’s roof!
"We had no way of getting it down, so we called the Royston fire brigade, who came promptly to the rescue."
Ivan praised firefighters for retrieving the umbrella from the roof.
