Royston Indian Society recently held a Bhojan Utsav, where attendees made and sold a range of homemade authentic food.

The event took place on Saturday, July 6, at St Mary's Church Hall, and was opened by Mayor of Royston Cllr John Rees, who attended alongside his wife Sheila.

A few members of the group prepared food from different parts of India, which was sold at stalls.

Starters included chicken and mushroom momos, papdi chaat, mixed bhajiyas and onion bhaji, while mains included Thalassery chicken biryani, Andrha chicken pulao, and aloo kachaodi. 

For desserts, visitors enjoyed mango delight, Hyderabadi special falooda, jalebi and more.

Drink options included masala chai and masala butter milk.

Former mayor and society spokesperson Mary Antony, who attended the event, said:  "The attendees were pleased to enjoy the delicious food.

"Such events help us to interact with the community."

Previous events held by Royston Indian Society include a celebration of the Hindu festival Navaratri, and a Ugadi celebration to mark the Telegu community's new year.

Mayor Rees said: "All the food we had was delicious and we got to meet some lovely people."
