Touring troupe The Three Inch Fools are taking their 'rowdy re-imaginings' of historical greats to Wimpole Estate in August.

The troupe are taking their tour to 80 different historic and natural landmarks around the UK.

Their first performance at Wimpole Estate will be Shakespeare's shortest - and wildest - comedy The Comedy of Errors.

The performance will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, August 9, with tickets available from https://www.threeinchfools.com/upcomingperformances/.

Directed by The Play That Goes Wrong's Sean Turner, the play is a farcical tale of long-lost twins, hysterical misunderstandings and endless mishaps.

With musical instruments in hand, the clock is ticking as the fools rush to untangle the mess.

The troupe will also perform The Secret Diary of Henry VIII, which provides a guide on how to keep your head in the Tudor court - and which will be staged at heritage houses with Tudor links.

Unexpectedly thrust into the limelight, young Henry navigates the ups and downs of courtly life, all while fighting the French (again) and rewriting religion.

Performances take place at 7pm on Thursday, August 10, with tickets available from the Three Inch Fools' website.

As the performances are outdoors, audience members are advised to bring blankets, chairs and cushions to sit on, and to come prepared for the weather with coats and waterproofs.

Umbrellas are not permitted as they will obscure the view for the audience.

Picnics are welcome from 6pm, and both performances will last approximately 100 minutes, plus a 20-minute interval.

The Three Inch Fools was founded in Cumbria by brothers James and Stephen Hyde. Their first performance in 2015 was Shakespeare's The Tempest, brought to life by 10 actors.

James is the troupe's producer, who puts together the tours, plans the annual season and designed and built their timber stage.

Meanwhile Stephen is the writer, composer and director, who in recent years has also written the troupe's non-Shakespeare productions - including writing and directing The Secret Diary of Henry VIII.

Both performances star James Aldred, Lucy Chamberlain, Charlotte Horner and Peter Long, and are suitable for ages six plus.
