Umbrellas will adorn Royston town centre until early September, in a display set up by Royston First BID.
The umbrella sky display features more than 100 coloured umbrellas along High Street, John Street and Angel Pavement.
Paul Brown, BID manager of Royston First, said: "We are delighted to introduce summer decorations to Royston in the first year of our new term.
"This was a key part of our business plan and it is great to already hear so many positive comments from both businesses and local residents.
"Not only will the umbrellas brighten up our the town but also increase footfall as everyone comes to see this amazing display."
Umbrella sky displays originated in mainland Europe, before coming to the UK a few years ago.
The displays have proven to be a popular tourist attraction that helps bring more visitors to high streets and town centres.
