Royston Choral Society is holding a concert of classical music later this month, featuring work by Vivaldi, Finzi and Fauré.
The concert will be held at St John's Church at 7.30pm on Saturday, June 29. Tickets are available at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/royston-choral-society/t-avkdxym or by phoning 01920 822723, and some may be available on the door.
When Chris Lee, who has been a tenor with the choral society (RCS) for nearly 25 years, was asked what keeps him coming for rehearsals each week, he said: "The buzz when it all comes together makes all the effort worthwhile."
Two other singers who are hoping it will "all come together" are Pauline Rowe and Lyn Grove - both altos who will perform with RCS for the first time.
Pauline said: "Despite my lack of experience, I’ve found that the members are welcoming to a new face and I already feel as if I’m making friends.
"It’s rewarding to learn the material and rehearsals are always enjoyable with [musical director] Andrew O’Brien who, although demanding the best from us, does so with a light sense of humour."
Lyn added: "Singing in a choir is a feeling of being buoyed up on the swell of sound and gorgeous harmonies, but at the same time the more humbling sense of being a small part of a greater whole."
RCS's last performance was Verdi's Requiem in April, which was also held at St John's Church and featured more than 120 singers and musicians, performing to an audience of more than 200.

An audience member said: "I thoroughly enjoyed the evening…starved of live music, our minds (as well as our bodies) gain so much pleasure from the outcome of so much of your dedicated rehearsal time.
"We have been delighted by the performances we have attended. It’s a pleasure to hear live music and of such a high standard."
The choir is hoping to attract similar praise for their next concert on June 29, which will feature Vivaldi's Gloria and choral classics by Finzi and Fauré.
RCS will be accompanied by organist Jonathan Lilley, and led by music director Andrew O'Brien.
