If you are struggling with pain, fatigue, stubborn infection or brain fog, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy might be able to help. Used to help combat a wide range of symptoms, Oxygen Therapy is a safe treatment without medication that brings many people great relief.

Q: What is Oxygen Therapy?
A:
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a groundbreaking treatment that involves inhaling pure oxygen through a mask under slight pressure in a specially constructed chamber. This transformative intervention allows your body to take in more oxygen than would normally be possible, increasing the amount of Oxygen that your blood can carry by almost five times.

Q: What are the benefits of Oxygen Therapy?
A:
Having an increased amount of Oxygen in your bloodstream has many benefits:

  • Increased energy levels
  • Reduced pain
  • Clearer thinking
  • Faster healing
  • Decreased swelling and inflammation
  • Greater ability to combat infection

Mark Boscher, Chair of Trustees for Herts MS Therapy Centre is a great fan of Oxygen Therapy, having taken part in over 60 sessions. He says: “It is great that something as simple as extra oxygen often delivers significant health benefits. And it works for me too!”.

Q: Who can benefit from Oxygen Therapy?
A:
Oxygen therapy is a beacon of hope for those experiencing symptoms such as chronic pain, extreme fatigue, stubborn infections and brain fog. Oxygen Therapy can bring relief for individuals with conditions such as Cancer, MS, Fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, Diabetes and Long Covid. Neurological conditions like Stroke, Parkinson’s and Dementia can also respond well to Oxygen Therapy. Additionally, Oxygen Therapy is often used by professional athletes like Cristiano Ronaldo and Thiago Silva to enable swift recovery.

Q: What does a typical Oxygen Therapy session look like?
A:
A typical Oxygen Therapy session lasts for approximately 60 minutes, with an additional 10-15 minutes on either side to pressurise and depressurise. You will be phased into the treatment gently, with the pressure in the chamber being gradually increased through the introduction of more air. Once the correct pressure is reached, you will inhale pure, medical grade oxygen through a mask.

Every Oxygen Therapy session at Letchworth’s Herts MS Therapy Centre is supervised by two fully trained Oxygen Operators and a member of the team will be inside the chamber with you for the duration of your session.

Q: What is the chamber like?
A:
You can see the chamber at Herts MS Therapy Centre by clicking here, it seats up to seven 7 people per session and is similar to a small room within a large steel tube. The pressure within the chamber reaches up to twice normal atmospheric pressure. Whilst this might sound like a lot, it is actually only a gentle increase, equivalent to a diver being 10 metres underwater, and is perfectly safe.

Q: Are there any risks to Oxygen Therapy?
A:
There are very few risks associated with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Those that do exist, such as middle ear injuries or lowered blood sugar, are rare and can often be avoided with due care and consideration. At Herts MS Therapy Centre, pressure is lowered slowly and staff are on hand to ensure safety. In the free trial session, you will be led through how to pop your ears to equalise the pressure to avoid ears popping.
