Children and staff at Bumpkins Nursery in Whaddon are celebrating after receiving two 'outstanding' Ofsted reports.

The nursery operates across two locations under the same provider, All About Children Ltd, with both locations visited by inspectors.

Bumpkins' main site is situated on a working arable farm, while the preschool building is a short distance away, just across the village green.

The report praised the leadership's "clear vision for their well-structured curriculum", highlighting their ability to "lead by example and provide all staff with expert guidance, coaching and training".

Inspectors commented on the active involvement and effective communication between parents and staff, with parents "feeling well-informed about their children's learning".

The nursery was praised for the children's "superb" behaviour, while the farm setting was identified as a powerful learning tool, enabling children to explore their local community and see first-hand the changing seasons of the year.

The inspection report said: "Children thrive and succeed in this nurturing nursery. They excitedly greet staff when they arrive and are eager to begin their day.

"Children's behaviour is exemplary. They confidently show their understanding of why rules are in place. This is especially evident in the forest-school area.

"During outdoor play, children initiate their own investigations, such as looking for bugs in damp areas. Staff nurture children's inquisitiveness by providing guidance and additional information when required.

"Children are eager to pull up carrots they have grown and compare sizes, as they look forward to tasting them."

The report added that nursery pupils are well-prepared for the transition to primary school, stating: "Children are equipped with a wealth of skills and knowledge to prepare them for the transfer to school."

Bumpkins Nursery provides early years education for two, three and four-year-old children, and is open Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 6pm.
