Six Royston residents visited Spanish twin town Villanueva de la Cañada to take part in the San Isidro festivities.
The Spanish twinning association, as well as the mayor and councillors, welcomed the Royston delegation and a small group from France at a formal dinner.
San Isidro's day, which took place on Monday, May 15, is always celebrated in the park, starting with mass accompanied by a flamenco-style choir and the town band.

The highlight of the afternoon was a giant paella, followed by a Zarzuela performance - the Spanish equivalent of a Gilbert and Sullivan operetta.
There was also time for sightseeing, with a day out to the monastery of Santo Domingo de os Silos and free time to explore Madrid.
