Campaigners have launched a petition in an attempt to save Royston Picture Palace from closure.
Volunteers at the community cinema started the petition and have encouraged the public to sign it before its closure at the end of May.
Royston Picture Palace is a non-profit community cinema, run entirely by volunteers.
The cinema is attended by people of all ages who enjoy the rare experience of sharing a film in a social space.
The petition states: “After May 28, Royston Picture Palace is losing its current managing organisation Saffron Screen and could close.
“We run a variety of British, independent, Hollywood, and world culture films. The RPP adds to the social "profit" - the quality of life - in Royston in addition to business for local restaurants and pubs.”
“Let the Royston Town Council know they have your support for doing everything in their power to keep the Picture Palace open and running as a cinema, continuing the shared social and cultural experience.”
The campaigners are also encouraging people to come and enjoy one of their films while they are still open.
At the time of publishing, the petition has 910 signatures with the hopes of reaching to 1,000 signatures.
