Therfield Village Preschool is raising money to "brighten up and refresh" its outdoor play area.
The preschool wants to create an outdoor space with lockable storage units, a discovery table for the garden, sensory equipment and items to encourage role play, draw and make music outdoors, improve fine motor skills and more.
All the equipment required adds up to more than £10,000.
As a non-profit charity, the preschool relies entirely on fundraising and the support of the community for projects.
Preschool chair Lisa Kingsley said: "We know that getting outside, even for a small time every day, is beneficial to our health.
"Children play harder outdoors than indoors, and time spent outdoors promotes curiosity, creativity and critical thinking, it is also linked with improved motor development and learning outcomes."
For the pre-school to achieve its aims they are seeking donations of the following:
- Log sections for seating
- Artificial grass of any size
- Blackboard paint
- Sadolin superdec fence paint (leaf green or similar)
- Multi-purpose compost
- A small, covered greenhouse
- A two by six foot trellis panel
- Some short sections of guttering and gutter clips/hooks
- Old musical instruments such as xylophones, cymbals, wooden pipes etc - it does not matter if they are broken
- Larger-sized wind chimes, either metal or wooden
- A go-kart type steering wheel
- Two or three old cooking pots and pans
- Any locks, latches, safety chains, doorknobs, cogs, textured tubing that could be used for a busy/sensory board
- Bee, bird, insect or ladybird houses
A few of the items for the play area will have to be purchased from new, and anyone who would like to donate any amount towards these will receive details of what their money is going towards.

The preschool has also made its wishlist available should anyone prefer to choose something personally.

The initial work is taking place over the Easter holidays - and volunteers have already offered to help.
Lisa said: "We know that everyone is facing increased costs everywhere so we honestly appreciate anything that can be given - your time or a kind donation are both warmly received."
