German students from Royston's twin town of Großalmerode were welcomed to the town this week.
The visit from Sunday, March 26 to Wednesday, March 29, has been described as a success thanks to the "wonderful hospitality and generosity of spirit" of families and schools in Royston and the surrounding area.
A group of 32 students, aged between 15 and 18, and their two teachers were greeted by their host families, as well as Mayor of Royston Cllr Mary Antony, who is president of Royston & District Twinning Association.
The aim of the visit was to improve their English and understanding of other cultures, as well as experiencing British family life and forging friendships.
German students were matched with teenagers their age, and had the opportunity to spend a day in school, thanks to headteachers and colleagues from King James Academy Royston, Hills Road Sixth Form College Cambridge, Milton College, Freman College Buntingford and Highfield School in Letchworth.

The group leave for London on Wednesday, where they will have two days of sightseeing before returning to Großalmerode on Friday night.
Sheila Ball, chair of Royston & District Twinning Association, said: "Special thanks go to an inspirational young ambassador for twinning, 18-year-old Jocelyn Hails.
"Since September last year, Jocelyn worked collaboratively with Royston & District Twinning Association and her headteacher, German teacher and fellow students studying German at Freman College to galvanise support for the visit. Long live twinning!"
