The iconic London Routemaster bus was the centrepiece of a rally at the Imperial War Museum.

The 42nd Showbus International Rally took place at the Duxford museum on Sunday, with more than 400 buses travelling from as far afield as Holland, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malta and Ireland to be at the event.

The highlight of the show was the Diamond Jubilee Anniversary of the famous Routemaster bus, which saw 60 Routemasters parading across the museum before being parked up for public display next to the American Air Museum.

First introduced on the streets of London in the 1950s, the Routemasters served passengers in the capital up until a decade ago, when they were retired. Sixty of them joined the parade alongside a ‘Boris bus’ the updated version now in use. Passengers were able to ride a Routemaster into Duxford village and on to nearby Whittlesford station.
